Print Information

Kathryn Kolb's fine art photographs of flora and natural landscapes are unique studies - perhaps meditations - in abstraction, tone, color and the magic light that ignites the life of our planet. Creating intricate designs with the mathematically intriguing square format camera, Kathryn creates circular compositions that express timeless and universal qualities. Her long time familiarity with trees, plants and ecosystems allows her to bring a familiar, compelling intimacy to scenes that might otherwise appear to be unapproachably chaotic or simply overlooked.

Small Prints

Prints

Traditional museum quality limited-edition silver-gelatin black & white, and Fuji Crystal Archive color prints usually come in three sizes:

15" x 15" (sometimes 12" x 12", depending on the image)
20" x 20"
28" x 28"

Those are the actual sizes of the printed images, the paper they are printed on is somewhat larger, and the matting and framing generally adds approx. 12 - 16 inches along the horizontal and vertical sides.

Framing

Photographs may be purchased as print only, matted print, or fully framed print.

Process

All images are created with a Hasselblad medium-format camera using color or black-and-white negative films. All images are full-frame and printed by the artist using traditional enlargers and archival photographic processes and papers. No digital techniques are used in capturing images or producing prints. Though some images may look as though they have been manipulated in photoshop etc, all are simple true-to-life reproductions of images exactly as seen in the camera viewfinder. Blur effects are due to selective lens focus and bright colors come from bright sunlight.

Prices

Prices vary by image size and edition number - generally from $300 to $1,800.
